Hello and thank you for your interest in Follaine Health & Wellness.

Follaine Health & Wellness was founded by Darragh Howley and Maureen McCarthy in 2022. Their ambition was to create a Health and Wellness practice that would add value to people’s lives by transforming their health and wellness by using nutrition, fitness and psychological techniques.

Our goal is to become one of leading and most trusted health and wellness practices in Ireland. At Follaine Health & Wellness we pride ourselves on providing the most up-to-date, evidence-based, practical advice that can transform a person’s life.

We are providing advice and guidance on topics including (but not limited to):

Darragh Howley

I became a health & wellness professional because I wanted to help people improve their health and well-being. While studying psychology at university, I became fascinated by the powerful impact psychology can have on our quality of life. Further university-level study in exercise and nutrition reinforced my belief that proper nutrition and exercise, coupled with good psychology, are essential to improved quality of life.

While people may understand what they need to do to be healthy, making positive changes to their behaviours can be challenging.

As I gained experience working with people from all walks of life, I began focusing more on combining psychological aspects of health with nutrition and exercise. Working and forming relationships with clients, individually and in groups, taught me that many complex factors can influence a person's health behaviours.

I discovered that to make a difference, I needed to adopt a holistic approach  considering their physical, mental well-being. I was helping them develop a positive mind-set, self-image, and a sense of purpose and meaning in their lives. 

By working on these areas, we can achieve sustained, positive change and live happier healthier lives.

Senior Occupational Therapist

My entry into a career as an Occupational Therapist specialising in the mental health field began in 1991. I received a BSc Hons Degree in Occupational Therapy from Trinity Collage Dublin (1991). My working life in mental health has spanned over 30 years in both Ireland and the UK focusing on supporting individuals to reach their optimum level of performance through skills development and use of coping strategies. Also, I specialise in working with individuals with sleep issues and use the R.E.S.T. sleep program.

I achieved an Advanced Diploma in Life Coaching through the Coaching Academy in the UK in 2006. I incorporated this into my work as an Occupational Therapist as a mental health professional.
